Raya Fever... or my own laziness

Yesterday was bad.... really2 bad. I can't imagine forcing my feet to walk to class. Lucky there's no one there in the class. Yes I should be angry at my students because they didn't come to class. Yet I feel thankful because I'm so tired.

The Raya week has just passed. But the Raya fever seems to influence everyone including myself. Imagine having a one week holiday and you spend most of it on the road. Literally on the road. We took a flite from Kuching to JB, then drove from JB to Rompin. On the first day of Eid we drove from Rompin to Endau and then to Kuantan... and we finished the day by driving from Kuantan to KL.

We spent the 2nd day of Eid in Kajang and Kl... then the next day we drove back to Rompin... Took a rest for one day and drove back to JB before board on a flite back to Kuching...

See... when you think you have the whole week for yourself to enjoy, you actually have only 2 days to have quality time with your family. The rest of the days are for you to quarell in the car or screaming at other drivers who are so stupid that they think the highway is their hometown where they can drive 40 KM per hour...

Anyway, that was how I spent my Hari Raya... And now back to work and I feel like Raya is not over yet... Maybe it's raya fever... or maybe I'm just lazy to start the day by facing students' tired faces... and you can see in their eyes that they are still at home with their families...

My Sydney (Kingsford)

My first time boarding a flight is to Sydney Australia. Never in my wildest dream to cross the oceans to live outside Malaysia for one and a half years. But it happened.. It really did happen. I was young then. Just graduated the year before and worked to fund my IELTS examinations and other preparations before flying off to the Wallabies Island. It was quite a terrifying thought as the furthest that I've been on my own was when I took the express bus to Perak to attend an interview. I remembered the day before. We had a small feast at home. Organised and prepared by the villagers. I was considered the first who went abroad at that time and in a way became the pride of the village. It was overwhelming to see how high was people expectation towards myself.  The day we left for Sydney I didn't know what to expect. Being a control freak I've checked out the university's website for more than 10 times. I even printed all the information that I thought may be useful (bus / ...

Our love nest...

We moved in to our houseabout a year ago. It was around two weeks before Raya. At first we thought of making it our holiday home since my husband still had his contract as hostel fellow in UNIMAS. But once we stepped in to the house we know immediately that this is our place. And we decided to move in straight away. There's a story behind the house actually... As other couple plan properly how they will b uy their house and how they are going to finance their house etc., it is a totally different case for me and my husband. It was one morning not long after we got married. It was Saturday and we were driving to a mamak stall for breakfast. Suddenly we saw some signs saying about new housing area called Muara Tuang Park. My hubby suddenly asked me to get the phone number of the company. At breakfast we discussed the possibility of having a house of our own. After breakfast we went straight to the developer's office to check out the price and all... there and then we decided tha...

Makan @ Samarinda

Bismillahhirrahmannirrahim..... Samarinda, part 2. Let us talk about my favourite topic. Food. I dunno why but everytime I write food would be my chosen topic. Anyway... Samarinda like any other place in Indonesia have a lot of dishes that you need to try. Well I didn't try everything but I did sample some of the best dishes there. We started our culinary adventure in a place (some sort of RnR) along the way from Balikpapan to Samarinda. The place is famous with "Tahu Sumedang". What is tahu sumedang? It is actually fried beancurd that you eat with a special sauce and very tiny and very hot chillies. There my hubby ordered his first "sup buntut" or actually oxtail soup with rice. The soup was so nice I feel like asking the chef for the recipe. As for me, I prefer "ikan mas goreng". I dunno what type of fish actually but the fish is being deep fried and added with some shredded coconut, some cucumber, cabbagge and long beans to be eaten with rice and sa...
